A response to opinions of helping environmental refugees

Rich countries should care and surpport the environmental refugees more. The International Institute for Environment and Development has researched and taken measures to help these homeless people. Climate change, melting ice, etc, has caused the global warming which leads a serious threat to human's living. In Florida and Louisiana, the dwellers are at risk because of the changed sea, "just 4 inches (10 centimeters) could promote flooding" (Handwerk,2004,para. 7). The data means people who live those places are in danger, this will result in more need and insurance when necessary. The situation also occurs in many poor areas. For instance, Bangladesh, a poor country that bears hard by climate change is considered to be supported, as Kakissis (2010) describes, "to receive money from a $100 billion annual green climate fund" (para. 19). This fearful circumstance obviously indicates that refugees a...

Summary of ERs

Environmental Refugees Unable to Return Home by Joanna Kakissis, describes the life of poor areas, where people are short for money to live a  normal life. A large number of residents do not have enough money to pay for their daily cost, like food, house, even more education. Low income and bad living situation have compeled them to move one place to another, this phenomenon exists from generation to generation. As Joanna presents, in Bangladesh, the refugees are vulnerable to global warming, floods, and other natural disasters. Most of them want to settle down, but actually it is hard to change this condition. Above fifty percent people in Dhaka stay in slums, child missing and trafficking happen frequently. They can't plant cereals as they wish, because these places have no more water and soil. No money and resources, disease should be a big problem. Many countri...

A response of "Innoventions for the Developing World"

In this article, the author describes Kamen has used the prototypes to test his power generator in some areas. This is significant because the device is powered by easy fuel called cow dung and can provide people more light for work output and free time. The author also mentions that the important invention could be the way that Kamen plans to develop a local entrepreneurial model. I consider this new invention of practical significance. This has changed the way of life in those villages. Each machine is enough to light 70 bulbs, it is not only environmental protection, but also  great thrift. Once the model is extended effectively, it can cause a big change in people's daily life. Combining with more entrepreneurs, this decentralized manner will bring more benefits and opportunities for local people.

summary of 'Mr.Mom'

'Few Holiday for These Dads' by Tony Hicks, the writer describles the increasing number of stay-at-home dads in the United States these years. The social reaction shows a certain accetance in some degree. In many countries men go to work and take responsibility of the home ecomomy. This transaction is not easy in the society, but gives men another chioce and helps to build father-child relationship as women earn money more, obviously more common in relatively wealthy suburbs.Nevertheless, some moms still feel hard to work outside, they miss the time to share with their children. Many opinions and situation exist according to the way of earning money, but loving children is the most important and significant.

About 'Popular Mechanics' by Raymond Carver

Popular Mechanics by Raymond Carver is a short story about a man and a woman, who struggled in a bad atmosphere. The man was in the bedroom pushing clothes into a suitcase, the woman came to the door and shouted to him in tears. The woman noticed the baby's picture and picked it up,the man wanted to take away the photo. They qureeled with each other and then began to grab. The picture was broken in their snatch. The story was ended by this. Actually, the writer doesn't give a clear result. Was the baby ok,who had the baby, the baby was a real baby? The writer uses'Early that day the weather turned and the snow was melting into dirty water.Steaks of it ran down from the little shoulder-high window that faced the backyard...' to strengthen the plot.Anyhow, the whole story is a reflection of life, different people have incongruous opinons about this. Not given ending is the best come-off.
